IBM Durban Hackathon
This event is sponsored by IBM in partnership with Ethekwini Municipality and International Labour Organisation (ILO) together with academic institutions and Private sector companies in Durban, South Africa.
The International Labour Organisation participation will focus on Enterprise Development, the hackathon will promote technology innovation, creativity and excellence amongst the youth of Durban from Universities, Technikons, technology start-ups (Black IT Forum) and technology incubators (Smart Exchange).
This event will be part of Ethekwini Municipality’s annual Innovation Week summit.
The ‘Hackathon’ will be hosted at the University of Kwazulu Natal Howard College on the 25-29 May 2015. Participants will make use of IBM Bluemix, a cloud based platform together with the latest software applications to showcase their skills and creativity to develop mobile applications that will address the challenges that have been identified. ‘Business Analytics’ and Business intelligence software will need to be used to gather data that is required to enable ‘Open Data’ and ‘Open Engagement’ Solutions
